Vision & Mission

At Abermorddu CP School, we are passionate about supporting our learners to aspire for excellence, whatever their aspirations and strength, in a safe environment which respect everybody.

We hope to create an inclusive family of happy lifelong learners that will develop the knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of their lives and education.

As a school we will do everything we can to ensure that pupils leave us as kind, independent, curious, resilient, empathetic, and motivated individuals who have enjoyed their learning experience here.

Everyone’s voice and wellbeing is important here and it’s prominent part of the schools ethos. We also want to broaden the horizons of all learners to be able to appreciate the diversity and wonder of the world and their place as individuals in it.

History

The first Abermorddu School was built in 1883, and had capacity for 230 children. The school officially opened on 20th August 1883 with 85 children. The first Headteacher was Mr Davies and worked alongside two assistants. By 12th September the same year, 134 children were enrolled.

By the early Twentieth century, the building was already dated, and lacked many modern amenities. There were outside yard toilets, paraffin lamps, and open fires. The school did not have flush toilets until 1926 when they were fitted outside. It was not until 1965 that toilets were fitted indoors.

The school was relocated to its current site in the late 1970s, and after a period of remodeling and teaching in temporary mobile class cabins, the new Abermorddu School was open to all children in 1982.

The knowledge of our history is limited and we have very little photos, if you have any information regarding the history of our school, please get in touch via abmail@hwbcymru.net
