Welcome to Reception

Croeso, welcome to our Reception page. In Reception we have Mrs Roberts, Class Teacher along with Miss Heather our fantastic Teaching Assistant. We can not wait to welcome you in to Reception!

Believe you can and you’re halfway there’ ~ Theodore Roosevelt

Our topic this term is ‘Bears’ which we are very much looking forward to after seeing lots of your great ideas added to Padlet during lockdown.

The topic will be supported by a range of fiction and non-fiction books. The main books that we will be reading are We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Big book of Bears and Threadbear.

Class Information

Reading Books ~ We will send home reading books every Friday this year and we kindly ask that they are returned every Monday morning so that we can quarantine the books for 72 hours and change them ready to send home again on Friday with new books.

Homework ~ Homework will be set via Google Classroom during the week beginning 21st September. Homework will appear as a grid of six activities linked to our class topic, we ask that you encourage your child to complete at least three homework activities by October half-term. Please upload your child’s homework to Google Classroom for this to be shared with the Class Teacher and feedback will be provided.

PE ~ PE this year will be on a Wednesday every week. We kindly ask that your child must come to school already wearing their school PE kit. We recommend that your child wears jogging bottoms/leggings due to PE sessions being held outdoors only due to Covid-19.

Snack and Water bottles ~ Your child will need a HEALTHY snack everyday, a piece of fruit is ideal. Your child will continue to have the option of a drink of milk provided by school or a drink from their water bottle. Water bottles must be brought to school on a daily basis. Please note, the bigger the water bottle the better or simply provide your child with two bottles of water as it is vitally important that they drink enough during the school day.

Communication ~ Clear communication with our Abermorddu school families is of great importance, particularly with not being able to collect your child in the ‘normal’ way by the class door. With this is mind, due to the huge success of Google Classroom during lockdown we feel that this method of communication will be the best and safest way to communicate any specific messages between class teachers and parents. Therefore, please check your notifications on a daily basis. All main school information will continue to be sent from the main school office via email.

If you have any questions at all please ask.

Many Thanks
